Robert M. Garfinkle

Robert M. Garfinkle received a BA in American Studies from Yale University in 1968. Following graduation, he served two years with the Peace Corps in Brazil. He was awarded a Masters in Creative Writing by Johns Hopkins University in 1972 and a JD by Emory University in 1976.

He is admitted to practice in federal and state courts in Tennessee, as well as the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals

Bobby is the trial lawyer in our firm. He served as President of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association for 1990-1991. His practice is based in complex commercial litigation, personal injury, probate, and domestic relations.

John C. McLemore

John C. McLemore received a BA in English from the Virginia Military Institute in 1970 and JD from the Nashville School of Law in 1974. He is admitted to practice in federal and state courts in Tennessee, as well as the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

From 1970 through 1975, while he was in law school, John covered the court beat for The Nashville Banner, Nashville's evening newspaper. For the next three years, he was in-house counsel for Associates Capital Corporation (now Associates Financial Services) where he did collections and bankruptcy work. In 1978, he became a founding member of the law firm which is now Garfinkle, McLemore & Walker, PLLC.

John's practice focuses on bankruptcy. He represents both debtors and creditors, and is best known for his work as a Bankruptcy Trustee. He is a member of the Chapter 7 Trustee Panel for the Middle District of Tennessee and has administered such bankruptcy estates as Sonya Butcher, Dorothy Marie (Dottie) West, N. Eddie Montgomery, B. Don James & Sons, and WWTN-FM Radio. He has also served as receiver in state and federal court actions.

Edwin M. Walker

Edwin M. Walker is a 1968 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he received a BS in Mathematics. Following graduation, Ed joined the Army and served as an officer in the Signal Corps assigned to Turkey. He received his JD in 1973 from the University of Indiana.

Before coming to Nashville in 1977, he practiced in Columbus Ohio. He is admitted to practice in federal and state courts in Tennessee, as well as the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Ed was an Assistant State Attorney General from 1977 to 1980 and Assistant Commissioner--Securities with the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance from 1980-1983.

Ed's work is primarily in the area of business law. Because insolvency is a big business problem, he regularly works in Bankruptcy Court for individuals, partnerships and corporations. He also helps individuals and companies create strategies for dealing in court and out of court with troubled businesses. He focuses on trying to find the least expensive solution to problems that have already cost everyone too much money.
